My husband has been placed on low sodium diet. No table salt. So I have made a substitute using sesame seeds, celery seeds, ground rice and saltbush leaves. All ground finely in coffee grinder. As he is using it (moderately) on meals without grumbling about loss of salt container, it seems to be a success.

Using Aussie foods including herbs and spices is not only a wonderful taste adventure, but the health benefits are great too! For example, Mountain Pepper has antioxidants and Saltbush has vitamin E and other vitamins! Healthy! Delicious! Australian! Way to go!

A great way to use lemon aspen is to cook it out with a little water in a saucepan. You then puree it and cool it down. You can now use this in a dressing, cheesecake, marinade or just about anything.

Lemon Myrtle and mango combined make a great marinade for prawns. Just mash a ripe mango, then add lemon myrtle to taste, some fresh chilli to taste and then slacken it with a bit of oil, coat the prawns and marinade for 20 minutes, wack on the barbie until cook and serve with a fresh salad and mango salsa.......yummo!
